Although many have tried before this is the first Small Club recording to actually match the original in sound quality. This is the first time I've said this about any reissue of this show. The sound quality is to my ears identical to the original release of Small Club 2nd Show That Night by X records in 1989. This is a perfect recording of a coveted aftershow. Visitors are encouraged to join in the festivities for a unique cultural experience and to learn about Beitou’s history.It is no secret that this is arguably the most essential bootleg recording in circulation for Prince fans. During this time many family friendly events across Beitou are held including feasts, a celebration with fireworks at the Taipei Guandu Temple and hiking through Zhuzihu. Lohas FestivalĮvery year from the end of April to the of May Beitou hosts the Lohas Festival to promote Beitou’s culture and past. Admission is free and displays much information on Beitou’s hot spring and Japanese colonial history. In 1997 it was declared a Municipal Monument and re-opened as a museum in 1998. The two-storey, 2,300 square meter, Tudor style building was designed on the Mount Izu Hot Spring bathhouse in Japan. It was originally built in 1913 during the Japanese period as the Beitou Public Bathhouse. The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is a renovated bath house turned informative and interactive museum. Spring City Resort Beitou Hot Spring Spa is another popular hot spring for tourists. Make sure to bring tightly fitting swimwear as board-shorts are not allowed. Getting to the Millennium Hot Springs is a leisurely 3 minute walk from the MRT station and is close to the Hot Spring Museum and Thermal Valley. Tickets are reasonable at around NT$40 which also allows access to toilets, showers and lockers. The typical “method” is to alternate between sitting in the hot and cold springs. The enclosure holds 6 open pools that cascade down from extremely hot to cold.
The Millennium Hot Springs, also known as Beitou Public Hotspring, is one of the easiest ways to enjoy Beitou’s natural springs. It was restored and re-opened as a museum in 2017. In 1937, the Xinbeitou Station underwent large renovations before ceasing operations in 1988. It originally opened in 1916 as the terminus for the Shin-hokutō Line during the Japanese period. Xinbeitou Station is a heritage building and museum in Qixing Park – right next to the existing New Beitou MRT station. New Beitou’s attractions are also all within comfortable walking distance of each other, making it a suitable day-trip location. Its easy access from Taipei make it a favoured getaway from city life with visitors often staying overnight at one of the hot spring hotels. Today New Beitou is still popular for its natural hot springs attracting thousands of local and international tourists every year. The area was originally developed by the Japanese as a hot spring resort town in the early 20th century. The Japanese’s affinity for hot springing resulted in rapid popularity and development which included construction of the Shin-hokutō train station. Sitting at the bottom of mountainous Yangmingshan National Park, New Beitou is characterised by its lush greenery, tourist-friendly attractions, and geothermally warmed valleys and streams. Otherwise known as Xin Beitou, this beautiful town in Northern Taipei famous for its naturally warmed hot springs.
